I have a question about invitation letters for someone applying for a tourist visa. My wife and I live in Mexico. I am a Canadian citizen she is not. I have been living and working here legally for 6 years. We want to go to Canada for a vacation. It was suggested to me that we get invitations from my family and friends inviting us to stay with them. My question is this:

Do we need to have original hand written letters sent to us from Canada to Mexico or can my family/friends write letters using Microsoft Word for example then print, sign and scan the letters to us? Obviously the second form is much easier but I have a feeling that CIC would want original letters.
Any advice?
Thanks

So just get them to write letters inviting us and print them, sign them and scan? Do they need to say how long they have known my wife?

JAMO1973 ... CIC Visa Office Need A Official letter From Ur Relatives but Letter must be written by a lawyer or immigration Adviser (its like a grantee paper for ur wife given by ur relatives) and ur relatives need to provide some kind of good reasons for ur wife visit to them in Canada AND Invitation letter and visiting reasons proof must attached with TRV Application....
Second step ..ur wife need good amount in her bank account ..bank account must be older than a year and must got around CA$10 thousand in her bank account ..because Visa Office always ask for latest copy of ur bank statement ...
3rd step her income tax paper and this very important also because VO always ask for income tax paper
4th step ....if she currently working with any company or firm then better ask her to get her employer leave letter and her new pay slips too ..Visa office always ask for ..what u do for living and whats ur current job and pay ...
5th .... return ticket
FILL APPLICATION FORM AND MAKE FEES PAYMENT DRAFT FOR CANADIAN HIGH COMMISSION AND ATTACHED ALL NECESSARY PROOF WITH UR APPLICATION AND FILED UR WIFE TRV APPLICATION ..GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS ALL OF US
FOR MORE INFO U CAN VISIT www.cic.gc.ca

You can write something about that if you like. But really I dont think the invitation letters are hugely important. The main thing they will be looking for is proof your wife will return to Mexico. So you will have to show she has a job and other committments in Mexico, and also a return ticket of course.

She doesn't have a job. I am the one who supports us here. She has family ties here obviously and I have ties here being my job, my permanent residency, driver's licence, bank account etc. all of which I no longer have in Canada.

We will be getting married on June 6. We have a rental contract from January 2012 with both our names on it. My wife is on my health insurance at my job since June 2012. We have photos together and with her and my family as well as e-mails between us and between her and my mother as they practice spanish and english together. I assume all of theses things make for a strong case.

That's probably fine. It's just a visitor visa. You are actually posting in the "spousal sponsership" section of this forum, where people are bringing their wives to Canada for permanent residency. But if you aren't doing that, and just need a visitor visa for a trip then you should be fine.

Guys ... U r not official married yet .... U don't have kids also ... She don't have job also and no income tax also .. She don't have any bank balance also ... ???
Guys Sorry ... According to my opinion she is not eligible for Canada TRV Because she have nothing to show and satisfied her Visa officer.
Guys If u wanna obtained Canada TRV then u need to show stronger tie in ur home town than Canada so that u can satisfied ur Visa Officer and make him believe that u will come back to ur home town after finished ur visit in Canada ..I am pretty sure Visa Officer not Gonna Issued Canada TRV for ur wife ... Sorry Guys :( :(
May be u can check with immigration Lawyer for better Advise ..Good luck Guys and god bless all of us
