Invitation Letter for a TRV for my boyfriend

Hello all,
My boyfriend is applying for visitor visa to visit me for 3 weeks. I'm wondering whether I should introduce him as my boyfriend or just a close friend in the invitation letter. Do you think mentioning our relationship in the letter would in any way affect the officer decision? I've have heard it might lower the probability of getting visa.

Hi Susan,

I'm also in a similar kind of situation like u. We are planning to apply for a visitor visa mentioning me as a good friend cuz I have heard lot of denial when we mention anything like boyfriend or fiancé. Only difference is currently we're engaged and by the time I land in Canada I'll be married to him( assuming me getting a visitor visa). Then again I have doubt about the question being asked when my status is changed from single to married that to to a Canadian citizen.

From all the research I have done so far , I would suggest u to mention your boyfriend as a close friend if he can back him up by a job/on going study and bank balance, anything that can show ties to his country
