Investigation - Misrepresentation - Abuse

Hi everyone!

My ex-partner and I applied for an inland sponsorship and in 2016, I landed (condition 51 applied). A few months before I got my PR, he started to be physiological abusive and after I got my PR, the sexual and physical abuses started. I left home and he called CIC to inform what had happened (without mentioning the abuse part, of course). I then received an email from CIC (Dec., 2016) saying that I was being investigated for misrepresentation since they received information that I was not living with my sponsor when I landed (that is not true). However, they did not mention the fact that since I left home, I was not in compliance with condition 51.

I was given 45 days to present my defense and so I did. Two weeks ago, I received an email from CIC saying that the investigation was over, that the misrepresentation allegation was not true and that nothing will happen to my PR status. :):):)

Now, I understand that condition 51 was repealed and that I no longer have to live with him to keep my PR status. Since the investigation is over, I have some questions questions: 1) Does anybody know if CIC would contact him to inform the result of the investigation? 2) Is CIC informing people that Condition 51 was repealed? Would my sponsor be informed about it? 3) Is there anything else he could accuse me of in order to have my PR revoked?
I ask this because even though we haven't had any contact since last December, sometimes I am still afraid of how he would react if he learned that my PR status was maintained.

Any help will be very much appreciated! Thank you!

CIC are very unlikely to report back to someone on what happened as a result of a tip they provided. Canada has strict privacy laws, other people can't just ask about individual cases (even if they reported them).

The repeal of C51 was in the news, and official journals, but I don't think couples are being specifically individually written to - if for no other reason than for lots of people, CIC won't have a current address for them.

Your ex-partner can accuse you of literally any serious crime if he's desperate to try to get you deported (as PRs convicted of serious crimes get deported and lose their status). But if he tries doing that, he'll likely be arrested himself for wasting police time.

1) Does anybody know if CIC would contact him to inform the result of the investigation?
No. However as long as you're a PR, his 3-years undetaking commitment is still in force (to pay back Canada in case you use welfare). So I'm sure there is some way for him to find out if he simply has an undertaking in effect or not. If you had your PR revoked, his undertaking would have been removed entirely.

2) Is CIC informing people that Condition 51 was repealed? Would my sponsor be informed about it?
If he simply read the CIC website, he would know about it.

3) Is there anything else he could accuse me of in order to have my PR revoked?
No, you are free and clear to keep PR forever as long as you maintain the residency obligation.

Just note you can't sponsor anyone for PR until 5 years after you landed.
