I am currently on an Intra Company Transfer Work Permit in Alberta. I am a Mechanical Engineer and my WP expires in July. My company will be trying to extend my WP soon. I am wondering if the new changes in Alberta WP rules will affect me?
Alberta recently imposed restrictions to companies bringing temporary foreign workers from outside canada in skills such as Mechanical engineers and another 28 categories...which would now fall under the refusal to process category.
I am wndering if an Intra Company transfer falls under the Temporary Foreign Worker category and whether this rule will impact extensions?.
Can anyone suggest what other options I may have?
TO make matters interesting, my wife will be delivering in June here...so a July expiry or refusal to extension will be extremely difficult for my family!
