Hi Guys,

I am an New Zealand citizen, got interview letter to be held next January for migrating under skilled category to Canada. Want to know what is next step after interview and how long it will take?

The interview is used to clear up questions the immigration officer has about your case. So it usually results in a relatively final decision for approval/denial. However, they can always change their minds if some new information comes to light.

After the interview, they ask for any other documents they haven't received and/or would like to see. After they receive those documents, they'll assess them and then request passports.

I'd guess if your interview is January, you could have your visas as early as March-April. But it could be a lot longer depending on the case load and what problems, if any, your application presents.

I suggest that you obtain a copy of your CAIPS file to find out what the interview is about. If you don't have someone in Canada to apply, you can use one of the commercial services. Just google CAIPS.
