Interview reschedule?

One of my friend (refugee claim) received an interview (possibly to surrender passport and get WP) from IRCC.
He wants to reschedule it for later date (possibly in a month). Is it possible that he can request IRCC to reschedule or IRCC simply don't do that?

For what reason? For example something like a hospitalization would be a reason to ask to change the interview date.
