Hello all,

I hope you are all well.

I need some help or advice in regards to studying. I am currently in the express entry pool with 459 points FSW. As my birthday is today I will lose5 points, with no FSW draws insight I don’t foresee me receiving an ITA soon and as such I am thinking about studying a 2 year diploma in practical Nursing in Alberta. Could someone shed some light if what I have researched is correct or not in terms of visa’s and the process.

So hopefully this is correct – I apply to the university and hopefully get accepted onto the course, I can then apply for my study permit and subsequently apply for my wife’s permit (open work permit) and my sons study permit for him to access school. Once I have (hopefully) completed my studies, I can then apply for the PGWP and apply for an extension for my wife and sons visa.

This would then hopefully mean I would then get skilled work in Canada (from me being able to work within the PGWP visa) plus my Canadian qualification which should increase our crs scores overall and hopefully receive an ITA at the end of it.

Hopefully this is correct as I am trying to make sure I have the timeline correct to plan.

Thanks in advance.

Richard

Yes, you can do as you've outline.

Note that it's not guaranteed that your spouse's SOWP will be approved. Your child will apply for a TRV (not study permit). Also no guarantee your child's TRV will be approved. So I would say that's the one major risk with your plan if you are not willing to come to Canada alone.
