Hi Everybody,

I am an international student graduated with 2 year diploma in computer programming. I graduated from a college in ontario last year in december. Since then i am looking for a job in ontario. I am 21 years old, I have only 2 years diploma and grade 12 education. I have 3 year work permit, I would like to know

1. How long will it take me to land a PR in ontario under canadian experience class? is there ay other way in ontario?
2. I was thinking about PNP program in winnipeg, if so how long will it take me to get a PR there? do i have to work in my field?
3. If i moved to other province like manitoba, do i have to stay there for certain number of years after i get the Permanent residence? What if i leave after getting the status?

I would really appreciate if anybody can answer three of above questions. I tried searching google but I dont know about the current rules as they are changing very frequently these days.

Any help would be great, have a good night guys.

cheers

Each application is different. Current average processing time is 14 months. See http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-ec.asp

2. I was thinking about PNP program in winnipeg, if so how long will it take me to get a PR there? do i have to work in my field?
Regarding time, refer to the same site above. You will also need include the time for the PNP nomination, which is not included in those times.

For the Manitoba PNP, you don't need to work in your field of study. You job however should be skilled and you have a permanent job offer after working for 6 months in the province.

3. If i moved to other province like manitoba, do i have to stay there for certain number of years after i get the Permanent residence? What if i leave after getting the status
You should stay, as the intent of the program is for people to settle permanently in the province. However after you attain your PR, you are free to move to whichever province you desire.

That said, the Manitoba PNP will only nominate you if you have ties to the province and intent to settle permanently. If it looks like you're only doing it for the PR, they will be unlikely to nominate you.

Thanks for your reply, greatly appreciated. Regarding the first questions how many years of work do i need to qualify under experience class?

for say i have
20 points for diploma
10 for age
5 for a family member
16 for ielts
15 for 1 year work experience

thats a total of 66 points, so does that mean i have to work for 2 years?

One thing i didnt count/understand was arranged employment 10 points ? How can i get those 10 points?

can you please explain this to me, thanks again.

No points system under the Canadian Experience Class - you are likely looking at the Federal Skilled Worker program. The requirements are on the CIC website: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp

The CEC class is a simpler pass/fail system. You need to have the combination of education and skilled work experience to be eligible.

So I have to work under either A or B class, I have already looked into it. I was looking for a help desk job with an noc 2282. Does that mean i will be qualified to apply after a year of work? or is there certain number of years i have to work for?

please verify?

All the information you're asking is on the website I linked. NOC 2282 is a Skill Level B job, so assuming you get a job where the duties match the NOC listing, and you work for 1 year, as well as your diploma is recognized and your language score is sufficient, you should be eligible.

Nope. Your experience could be with multiple employers, but all have experience has to be skilled and cumulative reach the year requirements. The work experience has be be after you graduated.

It was a 8 week contract, I graduated in december so its after the graduation. Do I need anything from my employer stating that I worked there for this and that? How many hours are considered as equiliant to one year experience?

If you are going to go with MPNP, you must be able to convince MPNP that you have stronger ties to Manitoba than to Ontario.

•Applicants who meet all criteria may be refused based solely on their connection to another Canadian province. (Ex: You have family who live in a city outside Manitoba, you've lived, worked or studied or are currently working or studying in a different Canadian province.)
http://www.immigratemanitoba.com/how-to-immigrate/assessment/

They rejected my application becuase I went to school in BC and I have a brother in BC, I was working as an aircraft mechanic (Skill Level B) for more than 7 months at the time.

I asked MPNP a question a few weeks ago, and saying:
"I've been living and working for more than 13 months as a full time aircraft mechanic. I understand I may be refused again because of my study and family in BC. Would I be refused again if I apply again?"
The asnwer was,
"Yes, you may refused. If you really want to immigrate to Canada, try Federal immigration program or BC provincial nominee program."

If you are already living in Manitoba, it wouldn't hurt giving it a shot.
If you are still in Ontario, try other provincial programs that do not require demonstration of stronger ties to their provinces.

I think you've got an idea now.

Please read the application guide on the CIC website - your answers are there including all of the documents you need to submit.
