I'm an international student pursuing my Masters in Canada (entered Canada in January 2024). I'm currently on my Scheduled Summer Break (No courses offered/taken). I don't require an internship for my studies (i.e. not required as part of the curriculum or to graduate). However I have landed a part-time internship. The Company is registered in USA, but it has clients and Co-Founder working/living in Canada. Rest of the team is in USA. They're are paying me some amount. What tax documents should I be getting from them?
The company says they don't require my SIN Number (because they're based in USA). So should be getting a T4 or W2 from them? How would taxation and reporting here work? Would I be violating any laws?
