Hi guys,
I'm currently studying in Canada (post-graduate) and hopefully i will receive my work permit this fall. I have a girlfriend from another country, we've been in relationship for 2 years; however, we are not married. Can she apply for open work permit based on my student or work permit? Do we need to get married (i'm planning to visit her this summer)?
Thanks!

Edited: i've read this thread canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/international-student-wants-to-bring-his-girlfriend-and-get-married-from-canada-t179744.0.html and it seems to be exactly what am i looking for, but i still have one more question: can she apply for open work permit right after our marriage (1-2 months) or not?

You must either be married or common law (have lived together for a minimum of one full year) for her to qualify for an open work permit. Yes - she can apply immediately after you get married.
