Hi everyone! I was hoping could confirm the general process for an international medical graduate, including what happens if their degree is not recognized on the world directory of medical schools, and at what point they need to contact a provincial regulatory authority. I will list the general process as I understand it, and then hopefully one of you can confirm/modify the steps involved. The majority of my knowledge comes from http://physiciansapply.ca/practising-in-canada/
1) Confirm that you graduated from a program recognized on the World Directory of Medical Schools (if they haven't, are they by default ineligible for Canadian licensing?)
2) Submit credentials for source verification through physicians apply
3) Once verified, apply for an ECA. At this time, applicants can also book themselves in for the MCC Evaluation Exam.
4) If they pass the MCC evaluation exam, they can begin looking into provincial residency programs and PNP options. Based on their experience and qualifications (I know that the college pf physicians and surgeons has "approved jurisdictions") they may be able to proceed immediately to the Royal College certification exam without completing residency.
With regards to Express Entry, I know that British Columbia and most of the Western provinces are in need of doctors (heck, the entire country is), but does anyone have any advice as to which provinces offer the most favorable routes for international medical graduates? BC's health match service certainly seems like a good option, but does anyone have any advice based on personal experience?
Thanks so much for any help that can be offered!
Kind regards,
Tom
