Hi guys,
Does anyone know if interneship experience will count or not. My company hired me though some enterprises as an Interneship for first six months. Does that still counts as a full time employment. I was putting up 40 hours a week and was doing the same duties as i am doing right now.

Thanks

It doesn't count for qualifying work experience, no. You will however need to declare it in the background dec!

thanks for the reply, i thought as long as you are putting more than 35 hours a week it is considered as full time employment.

Internship is usually a student trainee - it depends if your internship was performed while you were a student or not. If you were still a student, then no, the experience will not count. If it was after you graduated, then, possibly yes.

Unless it was paid work experience, it doesn't count.

We'll definitely know the answer to this at some point. My application is based solely on a traineeship. I came through IEC and due to certain restrictions, was assigned title of Management Intern. However, my positions is at the supervisory level, since I attend most management meetings and have access to sensitive areas/files. Also, I am full time and am paid wage that almost matches the average for my noc.

I provided a detailed letter from my employer, which includes department placement, description and an overview of duties. Whether they can get past the title/contract type is pretty much a guess at this point. All one can do is make a strong case and hope. The rest is up to the VO.

If you were paid and your occupation matches that of 0, A or B, you are fine.

If you are unpaid, it will not count!

That doesn't matter. They clearly set out what you need to be eligible:

You need to meet these requirements to apply under the Canadian Experience Class. You must:

plan to live outside the province of Quebec
have at least 12 months of full-time (or an equal amount in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in the three years before you apply,
have gained your experience in Canada with the proper authorization
meet the required language levels needed for your job for each language ability (speaking, reading, writing, and listening).
Skilled work experience

According to the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC), skilled work experience means:

Managerial jobs (NOC skill type 0)
Professional jobs (NOC skill type A)
Technical jobs and skilled trades (NOC skill type B)
You must have at least 12 months of full-time, or an equal amount in part-time, skilled work experience. Full-time work means at least 30 hours of paid work per week.

So what matters regarding your work experience: -

1) Do you have 1 yr FT or equivalent work experience in Canada?
2) Were you paid? Was it a reasonable rate for the position you were doing? This doesn't always matter, but has been brought up by VO's in the past.
3) Does the job match a skilled (0 A or B) NOC?

So if the above is all good, what now matters is what is written in your ref. letter. If your employer states you were doing X, Y and Z duties - you will be fine.

If they say you were LEARNING to complete X, Y and Z, then you MAY have a problem.

My job faals under NOC category B. I was working 40 hours a week. The letter from the employer doesn't state anything about learning, it clearly says the duties i was doing and i was a full time employer. So you think it shuld be ok
