I'm wondering if anyone can help me out with what CIC will actually want from me as the sponsor as intent to reside in Canada. We've received an email from CIC asking me for more info as I don't live in Canada at present. They have given us the following in the email:
Proof of Residence/Intent to Reside
If your sponsor does not currently reside in Canada, please provide proof that he/she intends to reside in Canada. This includes but is not limited to employment letters, lease agreements, copies of correspondence with: potential employers, real estate companies, property rental agencies, health care agencies, insurance agencies, financial institutions, etc. Please provide as many indicators as possible as any single one of these may not be enough on its own to prove intent of residency. Driver’s licences, property tax assessments, social insurance or health insurance cards are not sufficient to show intent to return.
The problem is, I don't have any of this! As we don't know when our visa will be approved, I have not started looking for employment or rental properties. In addition, I am 24 weeks pregnant, so don't plan on working immediately upon our return (whenever that will be).
In our original application, we included a letter from my parents saying we can live with them when we return until we get on our feet. Is there any use in including another letter, perhaps notarised, reiterating we can live with them until we find our own place? It's pretty difficult to start emailing real estate companies about properties when we have no job in Canada, and no specific time frame that we will need a place. Should I just start emailing real estate companies and health insurance companies to satisfy CIC's checklist? Any advice on what I should include would be most appreciated! My entire family is in Canada so I'm not really sure why I need to prove my intent to return in such detail.
Our situation is also a bit more complex as we're living in Europe for my partner's job at the moment (he's Australian), so we have already outlined in detail that we have zero ties to where we're living and 100% plan to move to Canada next year when his contract is up. We were hoping someone with a shred of common sense has our application, but only time will tell.
