I applied for student visa on November 1, 2023 under SDS for January 2024 intake . However, the processing time of 20 days went beyond the normal timeline. CIC requested for submission of passport on January 3, 2024 and tentative issuance of stamped passport in on January 12, 2024.
On Dec 27, 2023, I requested a deferral of my program to the next available term for my program, which is Fall 2024.
How will the new student visa guidelines affect my deferral request?
1. Is it advisable to just come to Canada with my student permit, and enroll/register for Fall 2024 semester? (I have a family in Canada willing to accommodate me until classes start in fall, if ever)
2. Do I need to re-apply for a student visa to cover for my deferral to Fall 2024 ( Cons: POF will increase 2X to 20,000 CAD)
3. Can I just ask my DLI for a revised LOA stating that my program will start in Fall 2024, and not go back to square one with the application process.
