I am seeking your assistance regarding my Express Entry application for permanent residency (PR) in Canada. I recently received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) based on my Express Entry profile, which indicated that I have two years of Canadian work experience. However, I currently do not have a valid work permit to gain additional work experience, and I am unsure if the claim of two years of experience is accurate based on the timeline of my previous employment.

Here is a summary of my situation:

• First Job: April 6, 2022, to November 7, 2022

• Second Job: January 3, 2023, to April 19, 2024

The total work experience amounts to approximately 1 year, 10 months, and 17 days, but it was calculated as 2 years of experience in my Express Entry profile, and I received the ITA accordingly.

However, my work permit expired, and I no longer have valid status to continue working in Canada. I am concerned that this could affect the accuracy of my application, and I want to ensure that there are no issues with misrepresentation in my application when submitting my PR request.

I would appreciate your expert advice on the following:

1. Can I accept the ITA and submit my PR application with this work experience, given that it was legally obtained during the period when I had valid work status, even though I currently do not have a valid work permit?

2. Is there any risk of misrepresentation in claiming two years of Canadian work experience when my actual work experience is slightly less than that?

3. Should I provide additional documentation to clarify this issue to IRCC to avoid any complications?

Your guidance would be invaluable in helping me navigate this process. I look forward to hearing from you and would appreciate any suggestions on how to proceed.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

1. Your work experience counts as one year (IRCC system has a glitch) so if your score is still high enough to apply then do so.
2. You will be claiming one year as you don’t have 2 years.
3. You show them that you have one year of experience.

If you try and claim 2 years when you don’t have it, and score is not longer high enough then your application will be refused.
