I have been offered a job out of canada for 1 year. My wife is currently in the process of being sponsored we are 2 months into the wait.

is it possible to switch her application to Outland or are the fees lost if she comes with me to a different country while I work.

I know they say we need to prove we want to live here and really we will come back would proving that be enough to keep the application alive.?

You can't switch, you would have to withdraw your inland and refile. You will not lose your money. Are you a citizen or PR, a PR can't sponsor a spouse if not physically living in Canada.

Yes. You would withdraw the inland application and then submit an outland application.

You have to withdraw the inland one first, you would submit a web form advising them and giving the reason. Once that has been processed you can reapply outland. Since you are on a year contract in writing I presume, you shouldn't have a hard time proving intent to return to Canada.
