Hlo everyone.. we have been in relationship from past 5 years but never lived together my bf is PR (got around 2 months ago) and i am on WP. My work permit is going to expire in next month. If i marry him now is there any negative impact on any of us as my wp is going to expire soon or ircc can question it . We will do just court marriage as I dont have my family member here and provide all our old pic chats and everything are we good to go.. second,I also have good points in trade category or should i apply for visitor visa and wait for draw. Thank you

Hello. They will question the validity of the relationship and want to make sure that it wasn't only for immigration purpose. If you can prove that your relationship is real then it's okay. Also, will his parents or family attend your wedding? You may need an explanation as to why they didn't or couldn't. People provide letters from family and friends to support relationship so your family will have to explain if they know of ur relationship and maybe why they couldn't attend your wedding.

At the end If relationship is genuine is only a matter of how you tell your story. Inland processing is 29 months now. ( some says they are scrutinizing more into inland app because some ppo do them as last option to stay in Canada so if you decide this route prepare a solid application). Depending on which country you come from outland might be quicker

For express entry, oh it's hard to tell. The draws aren't consistent as before.

All the best.

I agree with the comments above overall - I'd just note even if you do a court marriage, have friends attend. Get some pictures. Have some kind of 'event' for some group of friends, even if it's only a small event in a restaurant. Pictures.

You should be careful about your status - I do not know much about that - and whether/when you can work. I believe you can request to convert your WP to a visitor visa and apply for an OWP later, but you may face a period without ability to work. Respect that. You should also move in together asap after marriage and update about new address.

Thank you for your response. The thing is his parents are not ready as well as mine because we have some family differences. His sibling is also here but they are also not ready. We just can provide letter from our friends from our home country and from here now, and rest our old chats calls and pictures. Is this gonna be enough for them to bcz we don’t have any family support we tried so hard to convince them but now i don't have time and we don’t want to be separate..or i can apply for visitor visa if these proofs are not enough this is the only way i have i guess

Ok sure we will but our family members are not ready or this will be a conjugal relationship because we never lived together we thought we will be after marriage and that’s why didn’t inform ircc during his PR application because i am not sure if it is conjugal or not. We don’t have more time to convince our families so we decided to marry as we don’t want to get separate. So our old chats pictures , court marriage pictures and certificate, letter from our friends (home county) and from here are enough because we don’t have any other proof from our families. His siblings are also here but They’re also not ready

-You were not required to report a 'conjugal' relationship.
-I repeat what I said before: it will help your app if you have some friends (from here is fine) attend your wedding in absence of family, and have some event for them (even if small, even if cheap like a small party at a bar).
-If your families do not approve/are not ready for it (you do not clarify why eg it's something like same sex or race or different caste or something), write a letter of explanation. You are not the first to have a relationship that parents do not approve of (cf Romeo and Juliette).
-I did not say you need to live together before (although now you can without risk) - I said do apply after you have moved in to live together.

Ok it means we have to do some gathering on our wedding..provide proof from friends our pictures chats and this is enough and yes we will move together asap thank you.. i just want to confirm like is these proofs are enough to make them believe bcz i know our relationship is genuine the thing is i have left a very short period on my WP thats why might ircc think it is for immigration so

I cannot, of course, tell you that this exactly will be enough. That's for IRCC to consider with your application.

But for some comfort, what you've described doesn't sound that unusual and I wouldn't expect it to be a big problem. Just document well your relationship from the past (with evidence - not just telling them), and follow the points made above and by others - yes, including having some type of gathering on your wedding. And an explanation (it can be brief) of the fact your families don't approve (and ideally some short description why).

I agree with this as well.

A side note on this: it's unclear to me how much the (much) longer estimated times for inland are a technical issue (my suspicion) or something else going on. (That number jumped quite a lot a few months ago and now has fallen again by >6 months). I for one no longer have confidence that it meaningfully reflects right now how quickly most files get processed - I suspect reality is much shorter than that for most, 12 months probably closer to real.

For the OP here @Jassic - timing is tight to get married and submit application before getting out of status.

I don't feel I undrstand well enough issues about inland/outland and how being in/out of status interacts with that to give advice. You may be right that outland may be 'better' in this case - for example, if any risk of having to leave during processing (without having a visa in hand already to be able to return).

Overall my point being I wouldn't choose inland/outland in this instance based primarily upon the posted processing times, but other factors.
