Hello Everyone,

I would like to get some advises on that.

I am planning to visit my wife who is pregnant and going on her delivery very soon. However, I and my wife are planning to apply for Inland Sponsorship with Open Work Permit.

Do you think its a good idea of applying once you are there on a Visit Visa? How long does it take to get the approval for Open Work Permit because I will be taking my one month vacation from work in the UAE and I need to make sure if that goes through.

Please let me know if I am looking at the correct forms:
Application for Inland Sponsorshitp IMM1344E
Application for Open Work Permit IMM5710E

I might be eligible for Express Entry as well but not sure if I should process two applications together.

Please advise.

for inland and OWP, you must stay in Canada.
if you plan to go back after your wife's delivery, you can apply for OUTLAND (faster processing time than inland )

inland processing time is 26months and owp takes 4-5 months now.

No - not correct. You need a lot more than the IMM1344E to apply inland.

Dear Scylla,

Thank you for your response.

I understand that I need fill all the forms mentioned in the website. However, I would like to know if this is a good option or should I go for the outland sponsorship. My question would be that while my application (Inland sponsorship and work permit) is in process .. can I leave Canada and come back to my country until I get my work permit or do I need to stay there?

Just for your info. I will be going on a Visit Visa so I probably have to exit the country.

Kindly advice.

A requirement of an inland application is that the sponsor and applicant reside together in Canada for entire duration of processing (from submitting app until PR is approved). So no you can't submit and then leave until you get OWP, or you would risk having the app cancelled.

If you intend to travel during the process you should apply outland.
