I will be getting married in November and planning to get my wife apply for the visitor visa so that she could come here and then I submit the application for inland sponsorship along with OWP. The reason is to get here as soon as possible because we do not want to live separately for about a year (depending on outland sponsorship processing time).

- How many people have opted for this path to bring their wife to Canada?
- Would it have any impact on outland sponsorship if the visitor visa is denied?
- After the marriage, we are planning to get her last name changed on her passport. Would the visitor visa be still valid? If not, do we need to inform CIC?
- Assuming that she has gotten the visa, we are married, her last name got changed and she is ready to leave for Canada, would there be any problem at the Canada border regarding the purpose of the trip?

Thank you in advance for your responses and suggestions.

Many have tried but not succeeded, as getting the TRV can be very difficult.

No

Yes, the TRV would still be valid. She would need to carry both passports.

As long as she understands that she would only be coming here as a visitor, not moving here, she would likely have no issues.
