hi,

My lawyer suggested me to go with inland processing for my spouse so i don't need to leave the country and work outside to live with her while i send me application for sponsoring my wife from outside. But that will put my citizenship application in jeopardy so i am planning to file an inland application but my wife is currently working in the US (indian citizen). How can i bring her to canada so i can begin inland processing ? Any insights from anyone who had to bring their spouse first to canada before they begin inland processing ? Please help.

Thanks
INR

She will have to apply for a TRV. To get one, she has to prove that she will just stay in Canada for the length of time given to her on the visa. Proof such as a job, with a letter from her boss giving her time off; a residence (in the USA or India): investments, bank accounts, etc.; a return ticket; etc., will be needed.
She could buy a return ticket to Canada from the USA, and show proof that she has a job and has been given some time off, and that she has an apartment or house in the USA; this might be enough to get a TRV.

You can also sponsor her outland, even if she is in Canada visiting you. If she cannot get a TRV, you will have to sponsor her outland in any case.

Thank you so much for your response. Lets say she gets approved for a visitor visa, will that be just for the duration of her trip or 6 months ? Do you know how long a visitor visa is given ? or is it specific to certain timeline ?

The time given varies. Whatever the TRV says can be overridden by the border agent. So if the border agent when she enters Canada gives her 3 months, that is how long she can stay. She could be given just the time she has stated on the application - that is, whenever her return ticket is for.
However, she can apply to extend her visa about one month before the time she has been given expires.
