My common law partner and I are moving from Australia to Canada. I am a Canadian citizen, he's Australian. We are debating applying inland vs. outland and the decision pretty much comes down to how long it will be before he can work. Can anyone tell me how long it takes for a work permit to be granted after applying inland for a spouse visa?

Cheers,
Whitney

It should be about 4 or 5 months.
For an Australian, outland is better - the PR visa may be ready by the time he would get a work permit inland, or it might take only a couple of months more.

Apply outland!!!! Sydney is one of the fastest offices there is, averaging around 6 months. Applying inland would be a big mistake.

And with outland, you can get the app together now and submit it before you leave Australia.
