Inland OWP - dependents and health coverage

Hello

Under the pilot for OWP for inland applications, my partner can get her OWP within 4 months. Does anyone know what that means in terms of getting OHIP coverage? She wants to start her own business and once we get the business registered is that sufficient proof to get OHIP coverage?

Also, in the inland application I will be sponsoring her kids (one is 18 the other is under). Can I also apply OWP for the kids as well?

Thanks

Inland applicants are only eligible for OHIP 3 months after AIP. So based on current times that's 16 + 3 = 19 months from submitting application.

As far as I know the new OWP after AOR rules have nothing to do with OHIP.

From OHIP, http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/programs/ohip/ohipfaq_mn.aspx

You may be eligible for the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) if you are included under one of the following categories:

you are a foreign worker who holds a work permit valid for at least 6-months which permits you to work in Canada, and you are working under a formal agreement in place to work full-time for an employer situated in Ontario which sets out the employer’s name, your occupation, and states that you will be working for no less than six consecutive months;

Since having an OWP via inland process is not the same as being part of the Temp Foreign Worker program (TFWP), I'm not sure this will help people get OHIP any quicker.

The inland route is such a mess even after this OWP on AOR...
It is, unfortunately. I'm surprised CIC doesn't do more to discourage people from applying Inland. There's a small mention that people in Canada can still apply Outland, but it's buried and many people don't notice it.
