Hi everyone,
I am a British citizen and my girlfriend is Canadian, we have been living and working together in South Korea since January 2017, and will continue to do so until November 2017 when our contracts run out, that means that we will have lived together for a 10 month period.
After our contracts are complete, we are both planning on flying back to the UK to live with my parents for a few months, before finally heading to Canada on a permanent basis.
Once we have lived in the UK for two months, we would have lived together for a total of 1 year, which means that we would qualify for the common-law sponsorship.
We have evidence of us living together here in South Korea, and we have met each of our families in person too in various countries, and we have been on many holidays and excursions always together, all of which we have copious amounts of evidence for.
My question is: would it be best to apply for common-law sponsorship from the UK when we visit this winter, or when we get to Canada later on? Also, if we did choose the UK option, would I be able to work whilst in Canada?
Thanks for your help.
