Hi everyone,
I have a question. If a spouse is abroad(pak), what's the best option under current circumstances for her sponsorship application? Apply for her visit and then file an application in Canada (inland) or initiate the Outland application process? Please respond by considering the current long wait/timelines at CHC-Islamabad, as well as the issues regarding visit and the inland application.
I would really appreciate any feedback.

IMO, applying inland is one of the worst things you could do if your spouse is from a non visa exempt country with a high processing time. There's absolutely no benefit to it aside from your wife being able to stay with you during the application process and able to work, but the inability to appeal and long processing time to get PR just kills the appeal, not to mention in order to apply inland, your wife has to get a TRV first, but if you apply and she is refused (you will have to indicate that on IMM 5669), and if you see the list of questions, it's not the kind of questions you want to answer "YES" to.

With outland, your processing time is generally shorter, you have the ability to appeal, and because you're a citizen or PR, you can visit any time, no problem, solves the problem of not being together.

I would highly recommend apply outland, but make sure you have a solid application if you want to minimze processing time by not having too many red flags.

Normally those applicants from non-visa exempt countries if possible take the "inland" approach especially if they already have TRV. And those from visa exempt countries, they take the "outland" approach.

However under your circumstances, outland is the best approach for you with reasons mikeymkye listed. Faster processing have ability to appeal.

Once the PR application is filed, you could apply for TRV for your wife but chances are that she will be denied due to having more ties to canada than her own home country.

Thanks for your suggestions. Outland applications are currently taking around 3 years. :(

How much are the chances of getting a visit visa while the outland PR application is in process?

How if my spouse come to Canada on a study permit to study here and then we apply via inland application? We are not married yet so I'm wondering if the study permit application be filed before the marriage or after the marriage? and if it's filed before the marriage, would there be any issues if she is coming to Canada on a study permit but her relationship status has changed after the approval and receipt of the study permit?
I would really appreciate your responses as I am trying to figure out the best approach and strategy to carry out this process such that we don't have to wait for 3 years, but at the same time not to get into any trouble.

looking forward to receiving your feedbacks.

Thanks,

Slim to none chance. Applicant would have to show very strong ties to home country (like ongoing employment, owned property, etc)

There is no problem with that. It's fine to get married after arriving on student visa as single.
