I'm looking to find a health insurance company(s) that I can buy emergency coverage from during the waiting period that I will incur for MSP in BC.

I currently have MSP, linked to my current work permit, but it expires on 30th November. My PPR is in progress so I should have my COPR in 3-4 weeks, However I'll be out of coverage. I guess I will then have to re-apply for MSP once I have my PR card and wait for 3 months again.

I just need some emergency coverage, to cover possible car accidents, broken bones etc... If something went wrong like that it would be a bad situation. I have looked at a few providers and it seems like they only provide for people coming to Canada.. I'm already here, and have been for the last 2 years or so!

Any info would be much appreciated, thanks!

Jonathan.

Any "visitors to Canada" insurance would work. This type of insurance is also designed for new PRs already in Canada, but going through waiting period for provincial coverage.

My wife used one of the insurers from this online broker. It was cheap, entirely purchased online, and we had no problems making a claim. https://www.kanetix.ca/travel-visitors-to-canada
