Hey!
Thought I would update you with a positive story regarding shipping your belongings with an inland application.
I know there's been a bit of confusion over whether you can ship goods while you have an application (inland) in.
Background: from the UK, shipped our stuff together via sea/air. Our stuff arrived in February but we waited until I got my OWP to clear everything as then I would have legal status here for 2 years.
Because this was done via sea and air, I am not sure you'd have the same experience doing it by car.
Today my common-law partner went to customs to clear the shipping.
Officer: why did you wait so long to clear?
Partner: my common-law partner and I applied for spousal sponsorship in July and we wanted to wait until she received her OWP to clear it. We wanted to do everything legit.
Officer: Do you have a copy of her OWP?
Partner: *hands over copy*
Officer: *stamps documents*
If you have your OWP for 2 years then it seems to be OK as you're legally here for a long time and need your stuff.
