Came across this unfortunate situation today...

Spousal sponsorship from inside of Canada. They applied Christmas 2015. Wife is Canadian and husband is Sri Lankan. They have one child. Wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer recently and doctors give her less than 5% chance of survival past 6 months. What happens now? Husband is primary caregiver over this 2 year old child. It's a real unfortunate situation. What happens to this husband's application now? Wife might not even make it to first stage approval. Will they terminate application in this situation? Can husband ask for expedited processing based on compassionate grounds?

At a minimum, I would think this is a case where the husband could apply for PR under H&C. Not sure CIC would expedite the existing spousal sponsorship inland application - however I don't see the harm in sending a letter to ask and possibly requesting that the MP intervene.

That's a terribly sad situation.
