I just got my PPR, so I will have to deal with landing formalities soon. Not that I want to complain
Does anyone have experience regarding OHIP accplications for Inland applicants.
My scenario:
- I've been living in Ontario for the last two years and have plenty of documentation to prove it
- I'll be a PR in some weeks and then have a CoPR to prove my new status
After landing, I want to apply for a health card (OHIP).
I checked this website:
http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/publications/ohip/ohip_waiting_pd.aspx
OHIP - like all provincial health care systems - has a three month waiting period. Long story short: You need to have lived in Ontario for the last 3 months before you can apply. Also you are only eligible for OHIP once you are a PR.
My question is: Do I have to wait until I lived in Ontario for three months as a PR? Or can I apply for a health card right after landing, since I've been living here for more than three months (not as a PR) and now I am a PR?
