Information Technology worker permit - changing companies?

Hi,

I'm wondering if someone can help me.

I'm an Irish person currently working for an IT company based in Toronto. I've been offered a new job in Vancouver and would like to take it. This means I will have to go back to the border and renew my Information Technology work permit with the new company.
Does anyone know if there will be any problems in relation with changing the permit at the border (I.e. will I have to bring a release letter from my old company stating that my contract is terminated, or will my new company's permit just overwrite my old company's one?)
If anyone knows the answer to this I would be most grateful,

Tim

1. You would require a new LMO for the Vancouver Position and once you have it, you can either apply to Vegreville for a new work permit, or at the border if they are feeling in a generous mood.

Cool thanks for the reply PMM but if I'm not mistaken I won't have to get an LMO in British Columbia until the 31th March 2011. So do you think that if I were to go to the border, say next week, that there would be a problem in relation with changing the work permit?

Many thanks again

1. Only if you can prove the job is within the 7 categories and the salary meets the requirements. : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2011/ob260.asp You may have a problem, just mention to the officer OP Bulletin 260
