Hello All,

I just got my drivers license here in Ontario and I wanted to know if I give it to an employer or someone for proof of ID will it show my personal information like SIN number, place of birth, etc?

Kind regards,

Clintax

Social Insurance Number and place of birth are not on there, but date of birth and address are.

But is someone able to retrieve my SIN card number and other information such as place of birth through my drivers license NUMBER? :'(

thanks

No, the only information available is what is on the driver's license.

Nobody can receive your SIN unless you tell them. You should not tell anybody your SIN except employers you are working for and banks. The only info an employer can see on your drivers license is what it says on your drivers license. The only info your employer can get from Service Canada about your SIN is that if you give them a name and a SIN, Service Canada can verify that they match just so they know you did not give them some fake information. Your employer can ask for a criminal check on you but you must approve it before it can be done.
