Hi ,

I have a got CWP with work location at Regina, Canada . My spouse got OWP along with me .
initially She is not traveling with me but will join in 1.5 months of time .

Could anyone please clarify some doubts :
1) Can my spouse work even after my assignment in Regina is over . Currently my assigment is only for 4 months but might get extended .
2) Can she work in any other location than my location or she has to stick to my location i.e. Regina .
3) If she gets a job , how long will it take to convert her OWP into CWP .

Thanks a lot if you could provide me these urgent info .

Regards

If she wants to convert her open work permit to a closed work permit then her employer will need to obtain an approved LMO and then she will need to apply for a new work permit. I would budget 4 months time minimum

If your WP was issued for 4 months, then your spouse's OWP would have the same duration. Check the expiry date to be sure of the last day she can work.

She has an open work permit, so by definition she can work anywhere, unless there are restrictions noted on the WP.

Thanks a lot for the info .

Currently I have not yet traveled . I just have the W1 permit and I believe the WP will be given only when I fly to Regina and as given by the Border Security Officer.

In this case I think I need to wait till I enter Canada .

Yes, your W-1 is a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). You'll get the WP at the border.
