Indian passports with serial numbers Z-000001 to Z-045925 have been recalled by the Indian Government and are no longer accepted as valid travel documents. If you have one of these passports you cannot use it to apply for a visa to Canada. You must obtain a new Indian passport from the Indian Government.

Hello Shibuya,

Thank you very much for these links. It clarifys a lot.

However, the colleague of mine visited the Empost office here in Dubai, which deals with accepting passport applications, and they took his passport to change it, just because it was a Z number, even though it did not fall in the specific number category.
