Hi Guys

I am writing to check if anybody has faced a situation similar to mine. After receiving my Canadian Citizenship in Feb 2022, I submitted an application to surrender, my Indian Citizen, through BLS. Since in-person appointments were difficult to get, they arranged for a Pickup and drop-off from Purolator. However, Purolator lost my entire application including my Original Indian Passport.

Now the Embassy and BLS are both throwing me around like a shuttle not giving an answer as to what the next steps would be. Can someone please guide me on what can be done in this case if they have gone through a similar situation?

Many thanks.

Is Purolator able to give this in writing? If yes, the Embassy / Consulate should have a solution. Usually for a lost passport, a police report is also required by the Indian mission.

When you say BLS / Embassy are 'throwing' you around, can you specify what exactly did they say about this issue?

Well BLS says I have to get an approval from Indian Consulate. The security guard at the Consulate does not even let me inside. Totally rude jerk and simply ignoring what I said.

He said go to BLS or Purolator without even trying to understand what I was saying.

Did everything man. They are like in the courier was arranged by BLS so BLS should follow up and BLS says follow up with Purolator we can't do anything. Basically both are just passing the buck.

So sorry to hear. Have you tried applying for Deemed Surrender application. Take the non-delivered tracking number page to police and get a police report. Request for deemed surrender with the police complaint to CGI. I know its easier said than done. But, it can be done and takes time. Good luck!

If you in the Toronto Consulate area, write to the Consul General. Madam Srivastava is quite helpful and responsive.

It doesn't matter who arranged it. The fact that Purolator lost it, and you are the sender, you are entitled to a resolution. When dealing with lost passports, all consulates will ask for a police report. File a report even if Purolator is not helpful. Attach the police report in your complaint to the Indian Mission.
