India police clearance certificat for US Citizen to get Canada Immigation visa

I am US citizen who lived in India for several years. I am applying for Canada immigation visa and one of the requirement is to provide Indian police clearance certificate.

Can I obtain the ploice clearance certificate from Indian consulate in US eventhough I surrender my Indian passport?

Please advice on how to obtain India police clearance certificate for US citizen living in US.

Just ask (best: call) the Indian embassy to ask how they do it.

I had similar cases, am German but lived a while in Denmark and Austria. Each of them had a different process (Denmark: email, Austria: going to a consulate), but in the end it wasn't that difficult to get the papers from abroad...
