Hi everyone,

I've been in Canada almost a year on WH visa. I work in sales as an Independent Contractor (I work scheduled hours and paid based on commissions). I would like to find a way to extend my stay here, I just don't know what type of work permit I would be eligible for, who I need to speak to, etc. Thanks for any advice.

Do you qualify for another WH visa? If so, that's really the only way you can potentially qualify to extend your status here as an independent contractor.

If that's not possible, you need to find an employer who is willing to offer you a full time job and who is also able to secure an approved LMIA so that you can apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer. Note that the LMIA process can take 4-6 months for the employer to complete - so it should be started early.
