Hi,
I got an LMO and work permit last year as an independent contractor working in a health clinic (I'm a physiotherapist) and am trying to get new LMO but have been refused saying you have to be an employee, not an independent contractor.
My contract guarantees me 30 hours of work a week at a higher than required rate of pay. My work permit states the clinic where I work as my employer and am unable to work for anyone else.
I have set hours of work, the clinic provides my equipment and supplies but I get paid in full then file my own taxes and EI.
I can find no stipulation on the CIC website that you have to be an employee and not an independent contractor.
Can anyone help please? Thank you
