Hello Everyone,

My Spouse applied for PR (FSW) under Express Entry program and got his approval in September. He marital status was "SINGLE" at the time of PR processing.
Later, we got married after getting his COPR and before completing the landing procedures.

We informed CIC regarding the change in marital status and then CIC requested for few forms to be filled along with "Evidence of relationship" that this marriage is genuine.
Now that we submitted all the requested forms & documents, could you please let us know how long does CIC take to complete the process to include Spouse to the application.
I understand this varies case by case, but just want to get the vague idea of the processing time.

Thank you in advance.

Special mention of Thanks to Asivad & Leon for providing their inputs.. :)

I get married 29th August, I informed CIC at the beginning of September by email.
15th September I got a message to ignore a PPR which was issued me at Sep 14th till they check my spouse.
I got a couple forms, and 7days for submit it. After that I next checklist of documents for my spouse and 7days for it.
Then I got a medical.request for her. Medical.results was upload at October 1St.
Week later I got a decision made on ECAS. But till now, I didnt get a PPR...probably because my email address was wrong. I'm waiting for GCMS note to be sure about it....
Sum up, It was less than month in my case from inform a CIC about marriage to got DM on ECAS.

Thanks Viscaelbarca for your response.
Could you please let me know what all documents were requested by CIC to add Spouse to application.

Also, could you please let me know if Birth Certificate of Spouse is mandatory document for this processing.

Hi,

I am in the same boat where you had been just a while ago. At the fourth month of my PR processing I got back to country and got married. I let CIC know about them that I got married and they sent exactly the same set of documents that they required from you. They gave me 2 weeks time to upload them. So, now I have few questions:

1) Did they ask for any additional documents of your spouse after that?
2) I cannot see any ways to upload documents in My CIC a/c. how I can upload?
3) Did you and your spouse got PPR at the same time?
4) IM0008 application should be filled by both me and my spouse?

Thanks a lot

:)

I am in a peculiar situation here. Got my CoPR and one time entry visa stamped, valid till 18-July-2016. I am yet to land and got my marriage planned for 10-July-2016. My fiancé is a working professional in India. Now there seem to be 2 options in front of me:-

1. Land before marriage and apply for a family sponsorship later. But the problem with this option is that I can only sponsor her only if I start residing in Canada first (just read this rule on CIC website) and also the processing time is around 17-24 months. This would mean a possible break in her employment (as we would not like to live separately after marriage). Plus I don't have a job right now in Canada and don't want to put more uncertainties in already complex process. So not sure if this is a good option.

2. Go for a court marriage before and add her as an applicant to my existing application. This would reduce my points to between 454-466 (depending on her IELTS score) from 478 at this time. Then let CIC decide if they want to issue her a PR or not within my application.

3. Let the CoPR go waste and file for a new express entry profile and loose 1 more year.

Really confused right now. Any suggestion with explanation would be really helpful.

Also if I go for option2, which all documents should I be prepared to send for my fiance. Particularly interested to know if she would be required to give IELTS, Education Credential Assessment (ECA), Birth certificate, PCC as these would take time to procure.
