I am here on a work travel Visa for two years, just under a year left. My wife and I were married in May 2024 (dating for 4 years prior long distance). We thought we would have lots of time to apply for the spousal visa; however, we still have not received our marriage certificate from Service Ontario.

A few questions:

1. Should I submit my PR application without the marriage certificate and submit it once I have a copy of it? Or is it better to wait to submit a complete application.
2. Can I be deported after my work travel visa expires in February 2026 if the spousal visa is not accepted by then?

Thank you.

1) No. Don't do this. Your application will be returned. You have been waiting a very long time for your marriage certificate. When did you request it exactly and have you followed up?
2) No. There are ways to keep your status valid.
