Hi there,

My boyfriend is a US citizen, we have been dating for the past 2 years. unfortunately he was convicted of an insurance fraud in 2006 with several counts, since then his probation is over. he was never senteced to jail or had to be bailed out. Our attemp for him to come to Canada to meet my family was unsucessful as they did not let him cross the boarder. We are planning on getting married soon and so in order to do that he needs to be able to come to Canada.
He does not qualify for any rehab as it has not been 5 years since the offence, my question is in regards to temporary resident permit. what are our chances of getting that? is there anything else that we can do meanwhile to get him into Canada for him to be able to meet my family? is there a fiance visa available?
I would appreciate any help anyone can offer, thank you.

as far as I know there's definitely no fiance visa to Canada.

chances to get TRV are always slim. you need to get as much proof as possible to proof that he will return back.

good luck

The only way to know is to apply for the TRP. It is an offence that would be considered "serious criminality" in Canada, so be prepared for a bunch of tough questions and a possible denial.

Thank you for your responses.

The offence that he has is a insurance fraud with 5-6 counts related to that including tampering with evidence, larcany and so on.. what do you think the chances are of him getting a TRP?
thanks again

Your boyfriend is a serious criminal. He can not come here legally without the permit. Apply at the consulate. Port of Entry Officers can not issue these permits at the POE, the request has to go through a director (Officers are very unlikely to do this).
