Hi

I applied temporary visa from india and got my visa stamped with multiple entry for one year validity.
But, when I entered into Canada port of entry, immigration officer provided work permit letter and mentioned that "this does not authorize re-entry".

I have to go back to india in next month for 3 weeks due to some urgency and wanted to come back again in canada.
Can I re-enter Canada with same visa and Workpermit?

If not, then what is the solution?

Thanks.

Yes, you use those same ones to re-enter. Your visa is what authorizes re-entry, not the work permit. All permits say "this does not authorize re-entry". It just means that if you didn't have the visa, you couldn't re-enter Canada using only the work permit.

I have similar problem but a little more complicated.
I'm holding a multiple entries W1 worker visa and it's valid to 8 months later.
But I quite my job and I'm currently in my home country out of Canada.
I think my work permit isn't valid,
But can I re-enter Canada with my visa only?
I'd like to seek a new job in Canada.
Thanks!

Your work permit will be valid until it expires or is formally cancelled by CIC. You can certainly travel to Canada on your current visa but remember that entry is never guaranteed.

Thanks canuck_in_uk,

I wonder why entry isn't guaranteed? What's the case I can't access with valid visa and work permit? But this is another question.

My original question is, Can I tell the border officer I quitted my job and I want to find a new one? Do they reject my entry for this situation? I will explain to them I'll obey all laws and rules won't use my existing work permit because it's employer specific. But what I'm wondering is is it valid to enter by using my multiple entry W1-Worker visa?
I mean in normal cases, Am I confirmed unable to access need new visa and/or work permit to enter?

Thank you very much!

Entry to Canada is never guaranteed unless you are a Canadian citizen/PR. Anyone else can be refused by CBSA, regardless of holding a valid TRV and permit.

You can travel to Canada on your current TRV. However, it's possible that CBSA may have issues with you coming to Canada when you are no longer working. They may question your finances being unemployed, they may question you travelling to Canada with a work permit you can no longer use. Or they might just let you in with no questions.

Thanks, so can I say like this:
Technically, I should able to enter.
But CBSA may have concern on my re-enter whether is good, reasonable, something like this?
So if I can explain my situation give them reasonable answer to dismiss their concern.

Is CBSA very strict on this topic?

Thank you very much!
