HELLO NAdTAb

The RQ ( Residence Questionnaire) is a part of your application for Canadian citizenship, CIC sends the RQ to applicants for citizenship who they suspect may not have met the residence requirement to become a Canadian citizen. There are many reasons why CIC may send you the RQ.

1- Residence Requirement

· Declaring time spent prior to becoming a permanent resident in Canada (such as being on a work permit) as part of your residence requirement for citizenship, but not being able to prove it
· Being unable to clearly explain where you lived in the past four years

2- Previous Citizenship Applications

· Having previously submitted an application for Canadian citizenship which was refused because of the residence requirement
· Having withdrawn or abandoned a previous Canadian citizenship application

3- Passport Evidence

· Stamps in your passport that indicate you took trips outside Canada that you did not declare on your citizenship application
· Having a stamp in your passport that shows you have recently entered Canada when you take your citizenship test or verify your documents with a CIC officer (indicating that you have spent time outside Canada while your application is in process)
· Including a new passport in your application, but being unable to provide a copy of the previous one
· Presenting a new passport that was issued outside Canada
· Not bringing your passport or other documents when you were advised to bring them to a citizenship test or document examination

4- Travel Outside Canada

· CIC is aware that you travel often outside Canada
· CIC has received information that you do not really live in Canada
· You have relinquished or attempted to relinquish permanent resident status while outside Canada
· You may possibly have your permanent resident status revoked while you are outside Canada
· You may possibly have your PR status revoked inside or outside Canada because you have not met the residence requirement
· You declared on your citizenship application that you were outside Canada for more than 365 days in the past four years

However they might have their own different reason to send you QR , but these are the most common reasons applicant's get the RQ for .

Hope this was helpful..

Good luck to you!

Hi OTTAWA2013

Thanks a lot for ur reply

I wanna share my brief case with u i directly got PR, in my 1095 days i works then i was on EI, then OSAP (ontario student program) during EI and OSAP study we have to report onatrio government that u r here and in OSAP once u pass one semester they pay u next sem fee. It means u show ur presence and effect to govt.

My question is that in my case how many % chances of RQ. I know my question is like stupid question. Sorry

Any idea???

My friend , to be honest there is nothing can guarantee avoiding RQ for any citizenship applicant. The odds of RQ, though, are probably quite low.
I suggest u make sure u have more then 3 years of stay including ur trips abroad before u apply.
Probably Safer to have 3 years 1 month instead of the exact 3 years requirement ( Not sure if you will apply under the current system or you will fall under the new system requirement which is going to be 4 years instead of 3 according to current system)

Please Note that Providing too much info can also result in RQ , so i suggest u provide proof as much as request in the application.

Just do what you can to be sure that the residency calculation disclosure you submit is complete, precise, and accurate. The more precise and accurate your disclosure, the more fully it corresponds to any and all records of travel, whether that is CBSA records or your passport, the better, but all trips should be fully disclosed.

keep records of all travel, keep records showing your engagement of activities in Canada, from using the bank to participating in events, especially employment and address documentation, just to be ready for RQ in case.
Anyone can get RQ. So, it's a good idea to be well prepared.

Hope all will go well.

Good luck to you!

I think it's a good idea, since you would be sure of all your exact travelling dates before applying so it's a way of avoiding any possible RQ you may get, also it's handy to have at the time of interview to match with your passport stamps.

Good luck to you!
