My daughter is in SK as a spouse with an open work permit valid until July 2017, her husband has a work permit and she followed him here.
Unfortunately she and her husband have separated and she needs to know where she now stands.
In the 16 months she has been in Canada she has worked as a Personal Support worker and also a horse trainer, she is a Qualified Horse Behaviourist she started her own small business training horses from scratch in a very rural area and has built a thriving business.
She has several young horses that she is training at the moment, so we need to know :
Can she continue working under her open work permit?
Can she apply for her own work permit or permanent residency from inside Canada?
Thanks in advance

1. Yes.
2. Yes, if she is eligible.

FYI - to secure her own work permit, she will need to obtain a full time job offer from an employer in Canada and that employer will also need to obtain an approved LMIA. Unfortunately it won't be possible to do this herself as a small business owner - she would need to find an employer. If finding an employer isn't an option, she should look into applying to immigrate ASAP.
