In person work permit application

Hi everyone. I applied for a temporary work permit + temporary resident visa March 23rd online. I am currently living in the US and my US visa expires June 30th. I was thinking of going to the NYC office and try to get an urgent processing or application and see if they can do it. Has anyone done this or heard of this? Does it work?

Any comments and suggestions would be appreciated.

IMO, it's a waste of your time. The person working the front desk has no access to your file other than to tell you whatever Ecas says.

Urgent processing request can only be made for TRV, not work permit, at least that is what they formally say on the website.

In practice, even for TRV they do not approve urgent request except for cases of the death of immediate family members (that is what they told me in person).

You can try to give it a shot. My experience with TRV is that if you application is already finished, and they are just holding it before shipping it out, they will give it to you. Otherwise, they are not going to expedite their processing.
