If you applied inland, your country *shouldn't* matter. The CIC website currently states that stage two (what you're awaiting now - stage two approval/principal applicant approval/decision made/"DM") is finished within 8 months for 80% of inland applicants. That means that what you do now is...wait!
Generally, once you have AIP, CIC has decided that your relationship is genuine. There is far less chance of an interview now. During stage two, they closely examine the principal applicant to determine if he/she is admissible to Canada (no criminal background, etc.).
