Hi everyone,

I am currently living in Canada, when I request for CAIPS notes, do I:

Make a request under the Access to Information Act, pay $5 and use a friend as the Requester

or

Make a request under the Privacy Act as the Requester

I am a little bit confused on the instruction, please help!

If you are making the request from within Canada (you are requesting your own file, you mail the request in Canada and request the infromation to be sent to you in Canada) = you are present in Canada, you do not need a friend or anything else to prove your right of access.

Access to Information Act or the Privacy Act - I believe you can chose either process, but I chose the Access to Information Act and paid the $5. It's easy - they accept personal checks - and $5 probably doesn't even cover their costs. I'd rather pay a little bit than drain the system...
