You should note that nothing has changed with the Police Certificates, they were always valid for a year, but they still can not be older than 3 months when you submit your application to the CIO.

2. The instructions now indicate that Police Certificates' issue date must now be 3 months prior to receipt of the Police Certificates by the Visa Office (whereas previously the instructions stated they had to be issued no more than 3 months before the application was submitted to the CIO)

The facts for each of these are below:

1. The instructions indicate that Police Certificates now have a one year expiration (whereas previously the instructions did not specify any expiration date)
The previous versions of the instructions did not explicitly mention that Police Certificates had a one year expiration date (for that matter neither did the prior versions of OP-6). The only document they mentioned had a one year validity was the medical exams.
In contrast, the newest EG7000 states:
“Police certificates are valid for 12 months from the date they are issued.”
And
“Note: If a final decision is not made on your application before the expiry of your police certificate, the visa office may request that you provide a new one.”

2. The instructions now indicate that Police Certificates' issue date must now be 3 months prior to receipt of the Police Certificates by the Visa Office (whereas previously the instructions stated they had to be issued no more than 3 months before the application was submitted to the CIO)

Thus, there have been changes and clarifications made in the new EG7000 that impact new applicants, including at least 3 to Police Certificates:

Blueray333 is right. One way or another we need to send PCC to CIO. VO checklist requires PCC. MANDATORY.

I knew about the 1 year validity of the PCC much before the new rules were out so it must have been somewhere, even if it wasn't on the OP6. This one year validity did not change. This rule was definitely there before.

If this is the case, then CIC has it wrong. If applicants have to send in their copy of the PCC to CIO and CIO always takes longer than 3 months now, then this implies CIC is expecting applicants to get a PCC, photocopy it and send it to CIO, then get the reply from CIO after about 4months and then have another PCC ready to send to the visa office. This would not make sense as everyone would need two of every PCC, one for CIO and one for visa office. OR Are you saying they changed the rules once again?

PCC were always submitted to the visa office under the old rules. So are you saying that they changed the rules to submit a copy to the CIO and changed it back to submitting to visa office only? PCC should be submitted to CIO, or at least a photocopy for sure. Unless they changed the rules which were instituted just a month ago.

OhCanadiana is 100% correct. These are MAJOR changes in the rules for PCCs.

Folks, wake up. The new guide says EXPLICITLY - do not send PCCs to the CIO. CIO is not likely to return your PCCs, and even if they did, they may be expired by the time you submit to your visa office, because the 3 month rule now applies to the submission date to the LVO, not to CIO. If you send your hard-gotten PCCs to CIO, you will have to get them again.

OhCanadiana, a valliant effort. Obviously, people are going to be wailing about this 2-3 months from now...

Unless of course CIC issues yet another new set of instructions in a couple of weeks and changes the rules again...

I read in this thread that PCC should be issued 3 months before of the submission to VO, My question is where does it says that . The page 40 has contradictory

Dear All,

Well I have sent my original pcc to CIO already (on 30th July), and have a notarized copy of the same.

If they accept my file, and my VO asks for a new PCC, I will provide that.

But I dont think that will be required, as the validity of a PCC always was (and again, is) for 12 month 'after sumitting them'

I have a PCC taken on July5th, I am not going get an AOR till September and I may not be able to submit to VO till Oct. end.
