After having your citizenship ceremony make sure you are registered with ELECTIONS CANADA, I know that the application has a section to check whether the applicant wants CIC to send his/her info to Elections Canada but for some strange reason I am not registered even if my ceremony was two weeks ago and I checked that option.

Make sure you are registered to vote in the next FEDERAL ELECTIONS IN 2015 !!!...verify with Elections Canada that you are registered, voting is a right (and we in Canada are lucky to live in a democratic nation) and by voting we can have a say on how we want our new country to be managed, so please, make sure you are registered to vote even if you authorized CIC to do it for you, avoid the unpleasant experience of going to vote believing you are registered and finding out you are not. As new Canadian citizens it is our civic duty...many countries do not give its citizens this opportunity, so take advantage of it here in Canada, remember that the decision made in Ottawa will affect us somehow, point in case the new Citizenship Bill

Here´s the link to verify you are registered, and if you are not then go ahead and get registered and vote according to your political convictions
