Dear all,
The new rules to submit applications to Sydney, NS, have recently changed. As of April 1st 2009 ALL applicants in ALL categories (1, 2, 3) of Federal Skilled Worker class are required to submit applications to Sydney, NS initially:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp

A checklist of documents has also been published to be used as the cover letter.

In the checklist, number 7 states this :"2 self addressed mailing labels one in english (french) and the second in the official language of your country"

I am currently in USA. Shall I just do 2 mailing labels in ENGLISH? I guess the purpose is just for them to send me requests or return me funds if I am not qualified.......

Also does anybody know how long does it take generally for CIO to reply you whether they would want your additional support documents or they reject you??? I did my police certificates already and they last only for three months ???

How can CIO know whether we r qualified or not by just looking at the information we filled in the forms ? I mean like how do they whether we meet the point requirements???

CIO or formerly caled CIU does not do the point calculation. They only check if your claimed occupation is on the list. Even this will be re-done later at the local visa office.
The time frame is quite short. They received mine on Feb 27 and replied on March 11th. The rest of time is normally the time in the postal system. As for labels. Provide two lables one in English or French and the other in the native language of your residence. If both are English, Just put two in English but they will probably not use them.

This is quite an important information.
It is not only the addition of a new form IMM5612E but one need to carefully read through form IMM EG7000.
For instance the new rule says "Ask the photographer to provide you with the number of photos required in Appendix A of the Visa Office specific instructions for yourself and each family member." while the old rule says "Ask the photographer to provide you with Six Photos of yourself and each family member.".

Furthermore, I suggest to those that are about to send their complete application to their visa office after getting the go ahead from sydney, to look through form IMM EG7000 carefully and use it as a guide.
Ive seen another change to form IMM 5406 on Additional Family Information.

Old form reads
Write the personal details for your children. It is very important that you list on this form any other children (even if they are already permanent residents or citizens of Canada) that you, your spouse or common-law partner or your dependent children might have, who are not included in your application for Permanent Residence. This includes:

* married children,
* adopted children,
* children of your spouse(step-children) or common-law partner,
* any of your children who have been adopted by others,
* any of your children who are in the custody of an ex-spouse, former common-law partner or other guardian.[/b][/i]

New form reads
Write the personal details for your children. It is very important that you list all of your children (even if they are already permanent residents or citizens of Canada). This includes:

* married children,
* adopted children,
* children of your spouse(step-children) or common-law partner,
* any of your children who have been adopted by others,
* any of your children who are in the custody of an ex-spouse, former common-law partner or other guardian.[/b][/i]

The changes are highlighted.
That indicates spouse and dependent children children are no longer included?
I stand to be corrected
Cheers

Sir K: Only description of question has changed details are the same. Details still ask you for "Children of your spouse(step-children) or common-law partner,"
