Can any one help me with some information? I am financing a car in the US that I want to import to Ontario where I have become a PR. My finance company (Capital One Auto) has agreed to provide a letter to allow me to take it over the border while continuing to pay them since I have provided proof of job in Ontario. Will there be any issues in registering the car in ontario if I am still financing it? I am looking to use a broker for the aesdirect for ITN number if anyone has any experience wit this as well, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not much help as my car is already paid for, but I'm in the importing process right now and it's been SUCH a hassle and I've already spent over half of my car's (low) value on this process. If possible, I would just get a new car in Canada. If I had the money for a newer car and could go back in time, that's what I'd do.

As for AES, I was able to file for the ITN online through autoexports.us. No broker necessary.

You need a copy of the title with the letter, lots of finance companies balk at that.

We weren't able to manage it. The state would not release the title until the lien was paid, and we could not export the car (nor import) it without the title. Finally ended up paying it off, as it was impossible to insure as well here in BC.

I would suggest...sell ur car in USA and buy one in Canada as lot of American cars are not build as per Canadian standard and u will end up paying lot of conversion charges.
