Hey everyone, here is my situation:
I'm an American citizen currently working in QC on a PGWP that expires on May 28th. I submitted a QSW PR application from inside the country in late February. My current employer agreed to sponsor me for a temporary work permit until I (hopefully) get the permanent residence.
I applied for an LMO/CAQ under the expedited process for Quebec specialized professions on March 28th. I got some requests for new documents from the Ministere de l'immigration et des communautes culturelles, these being the people you send your application to from Montreal rather than HDRSC. The last of these was on April 19th, and I sent the documents in, but I have yet to receive the LMO and have heard nothing at all from the office. As far as I know neither have my employers.
Does having applied for the LMO grant me implied status, or do I have to send an application for the new work permit to Vegreville before my current one expires to get this? I've read in various threads that implied status does not even apply to PGWPs as it involves making a new application rather than extending a previous one. What are my options here?
If I do apply for a work permit, will the MICC's requests for new documents count as proof that I've applied for an LMO? They have a "numero dossier" and a "numero ref. part.", but does this count as an official acknowledgement? Also, is the CIC still even accepting work permits with this kind of pending LMO?
And IN ADDITION to all of this, I might have to leave the country for two weeks in mid-June. I shouldn't leave, right?
